Gold/Silver Format File
JSL 2025 Gold Standards
To obtain and install the new JSL Gold Time Standards for the current season, please note and follow the following procedure:
- You need to download the Gold Standards file into the Meet Manager folder.
- You can begin the download process by double-clicking on gold2025.st2 and then selecting "save target as."
- The "downloader" should start up. You will need to tell the "downloader" where to store the file by browsing to the folder you want to store the file in. Otherwise, the "downloader" will store the file either to a default folder or to wherever the files were stored the last time the "downloader" was used.
- If the file winds up being named with a .txt extension after it is downloaded, you will need to rename the file so that the extension is .st2. Right click on the file name and remove just the added ".txt" extension.
- Start the Meet Manager for Windows program.
- Import the file into Meet Manager. You select "Events" at the top menu bar. After this screen appears, you select "Time Standards" and then "Import". Select the file using the file browser and you've got it.
If you plan to use Gold Standards in Team Manager, you should copy (not move) the file into the Team Manager folder (TM5).
In Team Manager, you:
- Select "Setup" from the main menu bar and scroll down to "Time Standards."
- Again select "Import" and locate the file using the file browser. Most (if not all) teams in the Jefferson Swim League do not have the time standards options enabled in Team Manager. You should still be able to import time standards without it. However, you cannot create a time standards file from Team Manager.
Notes:
For the gold time standards, the conversion factor from yards to short-course meters is 1.11, which is the default for Team/Meet Manager. Also the default turn factors are as follows:
- Free - 0.8 sec/turn
- Back - 0.6 sec/turn
- Breast - 1.0 sec/turn
- Fly - 0.7 sec/turn
- IM - 0.8 sec/turn
The gold time standards for 50-meter pools are based on these turn factor times. These are the defaults for Meet and Team Manager and JSL computer operators must use these to be consistent with the computed gold time standards for the 50-meter pools (ACAC & FSBC). As long as they don't alter the default conversion factors all should be okay.
The .st2 (and .STD) format is the USS time standards file format and is a binary file (as opposed to ASCII or text file). A binary file cannot be viewed outside of either Meet Manager or Team Manager.
