Half the accumulated funds of $1,800 stayed with the JSL and half the funds were contributed to the Charlottesville Free Clinic. The 2009 Jefferson Swim League Blue Ridge Cup winners are::
The idea for a fund-raising adult relay was proposed by Frans de Jong. He was subsequently joined in this effort by Bill McKechnie and Wayne Bookstaver. Their dedication, planning, and funding resulted in the purchase of the JSL Blue Ridge Cup, a trophy which will be awarded annually to the winning adult 200-yard Freestyle Relay team. In 2009, Virginia National Bank became a sponsor. Sponsors will match the total amount of the entry fees up to $1,500. All funds raised for 2009 will be donated to the Charlottesville Free Clinic.
