Tribute to Howard Craddock

Posted 6/20/2020

JSL lost one of its long-time volunteers on May 31, 2020. Howard Craddock, “The Voice of the JSL”, had served as the announcer for JSL Champs and Fairview for decades. His two sons swam in the JSL. In recognition of his service, he received the League's Volunteer Award in 2002 and was inducted into the JSL Hall of Fame in 2019. Howard was a competitive long distance swimmer, but it was obvious that he also took great joy in volunteering for JSL. See Howard's Obiturary >>

Swimming in the JSL

Welcome to the Jefferson Swim League! If you live in the greater Charlottesville, Virginia area and your children enjoy swimming, please consider joining one of our great summer swim teams. Swimming freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and relays in the JSL is just plain fun! Just ask any of the over 2,870 JSL swimmers.

Find a team that meets your needs and share the experience of swimming with friends, both old and new. The Jefferson Swim League places strong emphasis on sportsmanship and fair play. As we like to say, the Championship lasts a day; Sportsmanship lasts a lifetime. You and your children will have a great experience while they improve their swimming skills on the way to the major event of the summer season - the JSL Championship at the University of Virginia's Aquatic & Fitness Center. Come join the fun!
